Choosing and Understanding a Topic

Selecting a topic for your school essay, you will find interesting and challenging: this is very easy and enjoyable to expand and defend strong arguments on something that intrigues and interests you than on something that you find very simple or boring. School essay writing is not the result or the finished creation of learning, but this is an integral part of learning. Also, it is a way of classifying and clarifying your versions, trying out your thoughts, and discovering some ways of thinking about a topic.
While writing your school essay, you should think about the topic or question in these ways:
1) What is the issue it proposes?
2) What is the aspect, the issue that makes it appealing?
3) What is your first reaction to this question: no, yes, maybe?
4) Do you agree or disagree with the interpretation or contention the topic proposes?
5) What issues and ideas can you explore by giving the answer to this question?
6) Is there any simple answer, or could this be more problematic than it looks?
7) What types of info is the question requiring you to use?
What subjects can you explore?
Also, it is important to explore the question and ask yourself – do you understand what the topic or question is asking you to do? Have you interpreted the question in a correct way? When you doubt, or when you wish to check that the approach that you are taking does concern the question, consult with your tutor.
